John James Entwistle – Biography

John James Entwistle

My name is John James Entwistle. I am better known as JJ. I iam originally from Glasgow. I have lived the majority of my life in Saint Barnabas, in a council house, although I previously lived in Kings Worthy.

I am blind and have a mild hearing impairment but have not let my disabilities stop me living a full life.

I recently graduated from University where I read Politics. I am also a practising Judo player, a member of the British Judo Association at brown belt level.

I have been a Labour Party member for six years and a supporter for ten years. I am a member of Young Labour and also Winchester Labour’s Health and Social Care Campaign Group. In recent months, this has campaigned to reduce Covid infection rates in the Winchester City Council area to zero. This campaign has involved continuous written communications with the Hampshire Chronicle.

I currently hold the position of Disability Officer in the Winchester Labour Party. I also organise collections of aluminium to raise funds for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

I passionately believe in investing in council housing and affordable homes to give the local community the opportunity to become homeowners.

I have a strong desire to make an impact in health and environmental policies. As a service user, I have firsthand knowledge of the system and local government disability policies.
